Applications for our graduate programs can be obtained from The Graduate School, Room 109, Thompson Hall, 105 Main Street, Durham, NH 03824-3547 or on the web. An on-line application is also available. Paper applications can also be obtained by contacting the MFA Graduate Program directly at art-arthistory@unh.edu or 603-862-2190 .

Collect and submit all supporting materials in one packet. Send all materials to the Graduate School, not to the Art and Art History Department.


Admission Requirements

A bachelor of fine arts degree in painting or the equivalent in undergraduate course work (minimally this would mean 60 credit hours in studio art and 16 credit hours in art history) is required for admission to this program. Additionally a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.6 is required. Prospective students must submit 20 images of recent work (either slides or a cd) to be reviewed by the graduate faculty of the Department of Art and Art History along with undergraduate transcripts and three letters of recommendation.
